As the last week of May tempts us with some sunny weather, it is easy to mistake Memorial Day for a much-needed three-day weekend to kick off the summer season.

We often forget that Memorial Day is a time to remember the veterans who have served our country and their families who have made sacrifices for our freedom. Make this Memorial Day a time to remind your friends and family why we observe the holiday. Enjoy the sun by eating outside or spending time with those you love but also reflect with the rest of the country by observing the National Moment of Remembrance.

Our very own Dr. John served in the US Military! We asked him a few questions to learn more what Memorial Day means to him.

What branch of the military did you serve in?

      - I served active duty in US Navy.

What does Memorial Day mean to you?

      - Memorial Day is respectfully observed, by me and my family, remembering and learning more about those people who have died while serving in our country's armed forces. I am teaching my children about American flag etiquette and how to properly display our American flag.

Do you have an Memorial Day Traditions?

      - My family has a continuing tradition of visiting my Veteran father and Veteran grandfather's gravestones and decorating with flowers. We have also been actively involved with Boy Scouts of America and annual visits decorating gravestones at Fort Rosecrans and Miramar National Cemeteries.

However absorbed you are enjoying the beach, watermelon, and mom’s famous potato salad, -take a moment to remember what this holiday is about. Have a wonderful Memorial Day from all of us at Pinnacle Endodontics!
